Five Training Tips

Training Tip # 1
No Pain, No Gain
This is NOT a proper approach to any sort of physical activity.  Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong, if you put your body into a situation that causes pain, chances are it is going to be damaging.  Gains have never been made from slacking off, they require perseverance and hard work, but you should never hurt after a work out, especially after lifting weights.

Training Tip #2
Have a plan
If you walk into a gym hoping to do whatever workout you are in the mood for, you will have no consistency and you're muscles wont get worked to their full potential.  Have a plan, and stick to it to force yourself to keep up to a standard of training.

Training Tip #3
Keep a work out log
This applies more to weight training but can be useful for cardio too.  If you want to make gains, you must build up upon what you have.  Keeping track of what weight you did and when will help you to stay motivated to increasing weight, and also helps to provide a goal to beat.

Training Tip #4
Rest
Over training your muscles will cause them to shrink, that's right, shrink.  Resting each muscle group over 72 hours is crucial for muscle recovery.  As soon as your workout is over they should be put to rest.  Over training and not enough rest will tire you out, prohibit growth, and waste time.  You are essentially making little tears in your muscles when lifting weights and they need time to rest before working again.

Training Tip #5
The Psychology of it
So much of training is mental, if you're not in the zone you're performance will show it.  Being 100% focused on the movement will help you to achieve your goals faster.  Visualize the perfect movement and your muscles growing.

  1. Pain after a workout is definently NOT good. It usually indicates that you've been using bad form or too much weight. on the flipside, if your coming out of your first set with out breaking a sweat or finishing your workout without being tired, you need to push yourself more.
